Admin/Biographical History Rebecca Culbertson was the second wife of Rev. Charles E. Low. They had a daughter Minnie. Rev. Low died in 1873 at Bridgeport, Illinois. Rebecca moved to Mifflin, Wisconsin to be with her older brother, Robert Culbertson. She late moved to Boscobel, Wisconsin, where she met and married Rev. Samuel Hutchinson. They then moved to Ft. Niobrara, Nebraska.
Scope & Content This collection consists of three letters (in typescript form) written by Rebecca Hutchinson, the wife of Reverend Samuel M. Hutchinson, two in June 1885 and one in February 1886, to her brother Cyrus Culbertson, Sumner, Illinois; and two letters written in June 1885 by her daughter, Minnie Low, to her cousin Lillie Culbertson, Sumner, Illinois. Rebecca describes farm life at Fort Niobrara, Nebraska, particularly crops cultivated, her husband's work as a Baptist preacher, weather, and financial matters. Minnie writes of her plans to celebrate July 4, 1885.
