Admin/Biographical History Born June 7, 1899, Adolph H. Hilpert graduated from Burwell High School in 1919. He attended the University of Nebraska in Lincoln, where he graduated in 1923. Hilpert took a year of graduate courses at Iowa State College in Ames, Iowa. In 1937 he was on the faculty at Alliance High School in Alliance, Nebraska. Adolph H. Hilpert died on December 9, 1946. He is buried in Cottonwood Cemetery, Burwell, Nebraska.
Scope & Content The collection contains a manuscript by A.H. Hilpert of Alliance, Nebraska, entitled, "The Second Sioux Creek Massacre," in which he writes of a 1916 historical pageant that commemorated the first Sioux Creek Massacre of Garfield County, Nebraska. He describes the filming of the pageant by Frank A. Harrison of the Nebraska State Historical Society. Also included is some correspondence with A.E. Sheldon from 1939-1940 concerning the publication of the manuscript.
