Admin/Biographical History Ezra S. Hayhurst, a native of Catawissa, Pennsylvania, arrived in Loup City, Nebraska in 1880. He first appears as the proprietor of a hardware store in the 1882-3 Nebraska Gazetteer. He became partners with Samuel E. Gallaway around 1909, when the Hayhurst and Gallaway Hardware Company was first listed in the Nebraska Gazetteer. Gallaway, a native of Canada, had arrived in Loup City in 1883. Hayhurst died on June 29, 1911 and Gallaway continued to operate the business until his death on November 21, 1930.
