Admin/Biographical History Born September 4, 1935 at Scottsbluff, Nebraska, Joseph Will Fairfield was the son of Earl and Edna Fairfield. He attended Minatare (Neb.) public schools and then joined the Air Force where he was trained as a radio/code operator. After leaving the Air Force, Fairfield worked for KSTF-TV in Scottsbluff and KTNE-TV in Bridgeport. Joseph Fairfield died on February 4, 2007.
Scope & Content This collection consists of one folder of recollections and news stories, 1944-1978, relating to the Scottsbluff and Bridgeport, Nebraska prisoner-of-war camps, 1944-1946. The bulk of the material consists of recollections by former camp employees and area residents, and contemporary newspaper accounts regarding the German and Italian prisoners-of-war interned at the camps. The materials were collected by Joseph W. Fairfield of Bridgeport, Nebraska.

These images show views of the camp and interiors of the officers' quarters and mess hall. The photograph component also includes a few images related to the survey and the settlement of western Nebraska, and of a black powder shoot held near Bridgeport, Nebraska, in 1981.
