This collection is comprised of the reminiscences and stories of Alex Charbonneau, a purported descendant of Toussaint Charbonneau and Sacagawea. Dated August 14, 1933, the volume covers the time period of 1870s-1890s. Some of what is written is from firsthand knowledge, but a lot seems to come from secondhand information. He tells of his time as a stagecoach driver at Fort Pierre, South Dakota, 1881 or 1882, and other jobs he had. This collection consists of material related to a film production company, the Black Hills Feature Film Company of Chadron, Nebraska, in Dawes County. The material in this collection relates to what is believed to be the earliest known feature film made in Nebraska by Nebraskans, _In the Days of '75 and '76_. The film, made in 1915, is an epic western that recounts the story of James Butler "Wild Bill" Hickok and Martha "Calamity Jane" Canary. This collection includes twenty-four photographs and production stills relating to the 1915 film _In the Days of '75 and '76_. Also included are newspaper clippings about to the film.
