The collection consists of a three page, handwritten reminiscence by Daniel Cady Cole. The reminiscence in undated, but Cole describes coming to Brownville, Nebraska, in 1858 and teaching at the Fairview District School. He describes the school house and a chance meeting he had with John Brown and a group of runaway slaves.
