Occupation Owned "The Little Gold Dust" saloon in Lincoln. 1906 Union Labor Directory contains advertisement. Saloon was located somewhere between 9th-11th and P st. Dahl file contains a photocopy of "Little Gold Dust Saloon" from 1910. Original is NSHS No.: RG2158-237a.

Rawhide, folded, painted on rectangular upper flaps with pigment in red, blue and yellow. Holes on edges for fastening. Fragment of leather thong fastener attached to center holes. Only front flaps are painted. Reverse decorated only with red border. Paint design features two rectangles on each flap. Each rectangle is segmented into an additional pair of rectangles. Each rectangle contains an elliptical diamond shape, with a diamond shape inside it. Slanted lines fill the interior of the small diamond shape. Triangle shapes border the exterior edges of the rectangles. The reverse side of the parfleche is inscribed: "Presented to E. Dahl by HW Cave (sp?) . Rosebud, SD. Dec. 1906."

Ornament made of leather, horse tail, brass beads and quill. Black horsehair, with tanned skin attached is fastened to a leather tag decorated with red, white and purple quillwork. Motifs in quillwork are geometric cross and V shapes. The top of the leather tab has rows of brass beads attached to it. A tied leather thong loop is strung through the top of the beadwork.

Leather knife sheath with painted parfleche back and beadwork. Beaded design on front is geometric with a dark blue central motif that is shaped like a knife bladen and is bisected with white stripes that have red squares inside of them. Background beadwork is pink and blue and features squares and bars. Bead colors used are: dark blue, medium blue and pale blue, white heart red and white. The beadwork is attached to the leather with sinew and lazy stitch. The reverse side of the sheath is painted with blue and red pigment and has an inscription written in ink. The sheath is handstitched with sinew.

Club made of two black horns placed base to base. A thick piece of leather is wrapped around the seam between the two horns. The leather is missing bead rows and falling apart. Leather is wrapped around the wooden stick handle. The leather is stitched with sinew. Two tufts of dyed horse hair are attached at approximately 1/4 and 3/4 of the shaft. The tufts are wrapped with thin pieces of leather and wrapped with beads. The bottom tuft is missing the bead wrap, while the beads are loose on the top tuft.

Part of a set that includes Bow and 12 arrows. The bow is made of dark reddish brown wood and is slightly curved inward at the center. Both ends are deeply notched with spade shaped tips. Bow string is still attached to both ends of bow. String appears to be made of hemp twine. Bow has inscription: "presented by H.W. Cave (?), Rosebud, SD, December 1900 to E. Dahl."

Three lines of wavy deep grooving carved on full length of shaft. Top of shaft has 1 blue band of cresting. End of arrow is fletched with 3 grayish brown feathers, one which is dyed yellow. Feathers are attached to the shaft with glue and sinew at both top and bottom.

Three lines of straight deep grooving carved on full length of shaft. Top of shaft has 1 faded red band of cresting. End of arrow is fletched with 3 feathers: a white and light brown feather and a dyed red feather and a dyed blue feather. Feathers are attached to the shaft with glue and sinew at both top and bottom.

Top of shaft bands of green and yellow cresting. End of arrow is fletched with 3 brown and white (probably turkey) feathers that have been dyed red. Short dark pink/fuschia colored feathers are attached to the bases of the larger feathers. Feathers are attached to the shaft with glue and blue painted sinew at both top and bottom.
