Notes The NSHS has film of Sioux Indians at Fort Robinson, shot on 8mm home movie film by Arthur P. Howe, capturing scenes from the September 1934 event billed as "The Last Great Gathering of the Sioux Nation." The gathering took place at Fort Robinson, Nebraska, in conjunction with the dedication of twin monuments to the memories of Lt. Levi Robinson and Oglala Chief Crazy Horse. Huge numbers of participants and spectators attended, including nearly twelve hundred Lakota Sioux from nearby reservations.

Horse Tail. Tail was used to decorate a club. Hair is dyed a purplish brown color. A leather thong fastens the hair together at one end.

Necklace made of leather. Three leather pouches are attached to a braided leather cord. The leather pouches have an unidentified substance inside of them, possibly paint or some kind of powder. The tops of each pouch are tied with a thin piece of leather. The braided leather chain has a leather strip knotted and tied to it.

Children's moccasins made of leather with hard sole and decorated with glass beads. The leather is cut in a straight inside line to toe with a straight cut cuff with a faded purple cotton binding. An triangular shaped tongue is attached with sinew. Leather thong laces are wrapped around the ankle through slits in the skin. The moccasins are decorated with mutlicolored glass beads.The beads are attached with sinew in a lazy stitch.

Adult moccasins made of leather with hard sole and decorated with glass beads. The leather is cut in a straight inside line to toe with straight cut cuff bound with mustard colored cotton fabric that has been attached to the leather with white cotton thread. Leather thong laces wrap around the ankle through slits in the skin. Tongues are long, rounded at the top and cut from the same piece of leather as the insteps. The moccasins are decorated with glass beads in colors of dark blue, yellow, green, white, and white heart red. Adult moccasins, made of leather. Hard soles. Medium height ankles cuffs with serrated cut edge. Ankle ties pierce leather and tie in front of tongues. Tongues are long and rectangular. Uppers are fully covered with beadwork. The beads are primarily white, with abstract geometric designs made of dark blue beads. The designs feature triangles and pyramids made of upside down T shapes. Beads are sinew sewn with lazy stitch. Human hair is caught up in beadwork. Believed to be Cheyenne.

The leather is cut in a straight inside line to toe with a straight cut cuff and cotton binding of black dots on a red background. The binding is attached with light tan commercial thread. Leather thong laces wrap around the ankle through slits in the skin. An elongated beaded V-shaped tongue is attached with sinew. Tin cones with dyed lavender feathers are attached to the tongue with leather thongs. A tin cone is missing from 7898-7-(1).
