Between 1897 and 1907 there was a beet sugar craze and many factories were built around the country. This collection of photographs shows sugar beet factories in Nebraska and Colorado and the equipment used to begin the process of sugar production. Seven negatives, photographic prints, and postcards showing sugar beet factories in Scottsbluff, Grand Island, North Platte, Nebraska, and Fort Morgan, Colorado. Images show exteriors of factories surrounded by piles of beets and train cars. Of special interest is the photo of a 50,000-ton pile of sugar beets being organized by special machinery.

The purpose of this association is "to gather and compile the history of achievements in agriculture in the territory and state of Nebraska." The membership, limited to fifty, is composed of persons either actively engaged in farming or actively promoting the interest of agriculture. The Fairmont Creamery at Fairmont, Nebraska, was founded in 1884. It was renamed Fairmont Foods in 1948. This collection relates to the operation of Fairmont Foods Company, its factories, distribution centers, employees, and stockholders. This collection consists of approximately 250 photographic prints showing the Fairmont Creamery and Fairmont Food's buildings and employees, as well as the company's various products. Many photographs show the factory in Omaha, Nebraska, ca.1920s, with milk cans on the dock and delivery trucks waiting to be loaded. An early 1900s photograph shows a horse-drawn wagon waiting at the loading dock. Product photographs show packaged items in the grocery store
