This collection relates to the Oregon Trail's route through Nebraska and monuments erected along its path. This collection consists of photographic prints and negatives, 1904-1973 and undated, mostly 1910s-1920s. Included are scenes from locations in Nebraska through which the Oregon Trail proceeded. There are also numerous photographs showing markers and monuments erected along the trail and dedication ceremonies for the markers.

Approximately 120 photographs; George Washington Franklin was a farmer on the plains for more than fifty years. This collection relates to Franklin's life as a farmer in Nebraska and Iowa. Photographs document street scenes and rural areas around the United States. This collection consists of approximately 120 photographic prints. Many of the photos are of towns in Perkins County, Nebraska, ca.1893. Street scenes of Elsie, Nebraska, include dirt roads and clapboard buildings. Also included are scenes of farms, rural areas in Iowa and Missouri, cities in California, and family portraits.

Susan Ann Palmer Mason Rice was twice widowed and had five children from her marriages. Her family came from Connecticut to Keith County, near Paxton, Nebraska, where they started the Lone Tree Ranch. This collection relates to the history of the Mason and related families. The central figure tying the family lines together is Susan Ann Palmer Mason Rice. Photographs in the collection contain portraits and travel photos. This collection consists of thirteen photographic prints. Many postcards, 1907, document a trip to Raton, New Mexico, Susan Ann Palmer Mason Rice took with her son, Elmer Palmer Mason. Photographs show Rice on her horse, images of the wagons loaded for travel on the trail
