The Scrapbooks of series one trace Betty Rathburn's performances as a dancer and actress during the late 1920's and early 1930's. Miss Rathburn was a student of Flavia Waters Champe during this period. The collection consists of one item, a diary written by James Baker Kinsey. The entries date from 1896-1897 and describe a trip taken from Texas to Kansas and southeast Nebraska, where Kinsey sold bibles. Kinsey provides details relating to a visit to Lincoln, Nebraska; his meeting with William Jennings Bryan; and a tour of the Nebraska State Penitentiary.

The collection contains of a book length manuscript written by Harry F. Huntington of Longmont, Colorado. The manuscript is entitled, "William Jennings Bryan, the Man I Knew," and was written by Huntington sometime around 1955. A minister and friend of William Jennings Bryan, Huntington writes about Bryan's ancestors; his childhood life in Salem, Illinois; his education; his career as a lawyer in Lincoln, Nebraska; his political life and causes; and his religious life. Huntington gives his observations of Bryan as well as other people's impressions. The collection contains primarily land transaction records for John Irwin of Otoe County, Nebraska. The land covered by the collection was bought and sold in Lancaster, Otoe, and Douglas Counties in the late 1850s to early 1860s. One letter, dated April 13, 1869, is written by Thomas P. Kennard to Irwin concerning the sale of 80 acres of land in Lincoln, Nebraska. Another letter, dated March 11, 1893, is written to Elijah D. Marnell from J. Sterling Morton from the Department of Agriculture in Washington DC concerning the employment of Sadie Hawley in Nebraska City, Nebraska.
