This collection consists of materials gathered by Marie Harmer and J.L. Sellers during the preparation of an article on Charles Van Wyck which appeared in Volume 12 of Nebraska History Magazine. Also included is a copy of Marie Harmer's MA Thesis on Charles Van Wyck.

The collection consists mostly of business and political correspondence, 1859-1860, primarily relating to John Cheever. Cheever was a member of the Council of the Territory of Nebraska for the counties of Otoe, Cass, Dodge, Platte and Monroe, and a partner with James Sweet in Cheever, Sweet and Company. The collection includes copies of legislation and other governmental papers from the period as well as general business correspondence relating to Cheever, Sweet and Company. Also included are materials relating to the incorporation of the Nebraska City & Denver Express Company (Nebraska City), and the State Bank of Nebraska (Omaha).

The collection consists primarily of photocopies of a scrapbook relating to the legislative career of John Hay Comstock. Comstock served as a Nebraska State Legislator (1931-1939), an assistant Attorney General, and ran for City Council in Lincoln. Included are photocopies of newspaper clippings from Lincoln and Omaha papers highlighting state legislative business; copies of roll calls; letterhead and envelopes; election/campaign literature, including literature for Donald E. Renner. This collection consists of 25 manuscript boxes of material arranged topically in five series: (1) Legislative files, 1959-1965; (2) Correspondence, 1963-1966; (3) Legislative bills and journals, 1961-1963; (4) Committee reports and minutes, 1961-1963; and (5) Printed Matter. The bulk of the papers are legislative files, 1959-1966, relating to Senator Bowen's service in the Nebraska Legislature, 1959-1967. These files include correspondence from constituents, materials relating to specific bills, reports and studies, speeches and newsletters, and miscellaneous publications. Senator Bowen's filing arrangement was retained in the processing of this collection.

This collection of the papers of Dr. Luther Jewett Abbott, contained in one box, is arranged in five series: 1) Correspondence, 1861-1895; 2) Legislative Papers, 1867; 3) Clippings, 1867-1896; 4) Miscellany, 1850-1889; and 5) Abbott Family Material, 1890-1940. The collection includes a file of correspondence containing letters from Dr. Abbott's parents as well as one letter from Robert W. Furnas, October 23, 1870. In Series 2 are petitions sent by citizens of Washington County, Nebraska, to the Territorial Legislature in 1867 regarding a proposal by Dodge County to annex the western portion of Washington County. There are also sets of speeches made by Abbott as a State Legislator in 1867.

The bulk of this collection consists of correspondence and campaign material relating to Anderson's support of Frank Morrison's various political campaigns in Nebraska from 1953-1970. Also included is material relating to Anderson's own campaign for U.S. Senator from Nebraska in 1948. The last folder in the collection consists of miscellaneous items including a reprint of one of Anderson's scholarly articles and rough drafts of two speeches.

This collection consists of correspondence, 1890-1940; memorial materials; and scrapbook fragments. The bulk of the material relates to political affairs in Nebraska in the 1890s and the early 1900s, including an extended commentary on the role of William Jennings Bryan at the Democratic National Convention in Baltimore in 1912. Local issues discussed in the letters include prohibition, the candidacy of Grover Cleveland in 1892, and patronage. Correspondents include: James E. Boyd, 1890, 1892, 1893; Charles S. Allen, 1904; Thomas S. Allen, 1904; Charles Ogden, 1890; and Ignatius J. Dunn, 1940.
