This collection consists of a bound reminiscence, handwritten by Justus L. Cozad in 1908. The reminiscence primarily deals with life in southeastern Nebraska from 1855-1862. He describes what a surveyor does in detail, what areas of Nebraska he surveyed. He mentions the names of the people he worked with as well as the legal descriptions of the surveyed land. He also writes about his time as a farmer in Cass County, Nebraska. He includes an account of a journey to Denver in the winter of 1860-1861. Cozad also makes references to working for various railroad companies in Ohio.
