The materials document the memories and lives of Weddel family members. The Reminiscences of Series One were written by C.A. Weddel, Luella Weddel, and Bonnie (Weddel) Caplan. C.A. Weddel's "A Few Vignettes of the Past" was written for his daughter in 1978. Weddel writes about his family history, his schooling, and what growing up in Arcadia, Nebraska, was like during the 1910s and early 1920s. RG1080.AM - RG1080 Miles, Floyd, 1904-1989

This reminiscence, written by Floyd Miles in 1980, is an autobiographical account of his youth. Miles describes the circumstances which forced his widowed father to place his children at the Child Saving Institute of Omaha and into foster homes. Miles also recounts the abusive treatment he received in one family and the financially poor, but loving, home provided by his permanent foster parents, Malon and Eva Wolford.

Included are bird's-eye views of Ord, log and sod homes, the high school, the courthouse, and businesses. Of particular interest is a photograph showing the interior of a meat market.
