Approximately 62 photographs; Daniel Freeman is thought to be the first person to claim government land made avaialbe to settlers under the Homestead Act. This collection relates to Freeman's family and homestead near Beatrice, Nebraska.
This collection consists of photographic prints and negatives, 1861-1956, mainly from ca.1885 and ca.1907. The photographs include portraits of Freeman family members and group shots. There are also photographs showing the homestead and national monument on its site; the Freeman school; and the homestead certificate application.
