Title Transparency; "No Crown of Thorns, No Cross of Gold"
Object Name Transparency
Description Composed of three-rectangular wooden planks 11.5 inch wide by .25 inch tick forming an open-top frame with narrow support braces along the top. A double thickness of cotton gauze has been stretched over the two opposing open sides, and affixed with small iron alloy tacks. The gauze is painted with the words, "No Crown of Thorns / No Cross of Gold" on both sides. The wooden ends are covered with paper. At the bottom of the frame is a mount used to connect the transparency to a support pole.

History Used in 1900 during William Jennings Bryan's whistle stop tour in Osceola, Nebraska. Hole in bottom was fitted with a broomstick and illuminated with a torch.
