Description Gouche on board. Painting of four legionnaires in the desert. The men are wearing white hats, black uniform jackets and white pants. One man is lying on the ground on the left, his packing lying on the sand to the right. On the right is a man raising a gun into the air to bludgeon the man. Another legionnaire is standing behind him holding the rifle. In the background is the fourth man holding his rifle in his hands. Above the dunes in the background is black sky. The painting is matted. On the lower left edge of the mat is a graphite note: "Grand Central art School // Comp. Class of Grant Reyard - 1931". Written beneath in blue ink: ""Headstrong young legionnaires- who are caught in a sand trap" High Handicappers!".
