The man in the middle is wearing a light suit and is leaning toward the other man. The woman is resting her hands on a chair behind a table. Above each person is the name of the person the figure is modeled after. Printed over the table is the artist's signature. Beneath the illustration is two lines of dialogue on the left and the title: "The Fireplace." On the top left is the credit: "Illustrations by // John Falter." Printed on the top edge is the page number, section, title of the paper, and date. Page five features the top half of an article on weather. The article is titled "100 Thunderbolts // a Second" by George Gray and is accompanied by two photographs of lightening bolts. The page number, section title, and newspaper title is printed on the top edge. The bottom half of the paper is cut away.
