Title Painting; John Falter; Acrylic on Transparency; How; Matted
Object Name Painting
Description Acrylic painting on transparency. The transparency is taped to a lithograph of "The Last War-Whoop" by Currier and Tait. The transparency and lithograph are taped to a piece of white cardboard and matted. The color lithograph depicts a western scene on a prairie. A hunter sits on a horse staring at a Native American lying in the grass with a rifle in hand. The Native American's horse stands behind them, and he is calling out. In the background, more Native Americans are riding toward the two. The transparency has an acrylic painting of a space capsule drawn next to the Native American. A red and white striped parachute extends to the right of the capsule. The hatch is on the ground next to the Native American. A metal ring is drawn around the man's neck and behind him lies his helmet. White smoke emits from the top of the capsule. Written on the mat below the print is ink and graphite notes made by John Falter.
