People Allington, Margaret
History The caps were made by seamstress Elsie Merrit. They were made of old "draw sheets". The draw sheets were used under patients to lift them up in bed. The Franciscan nuns tried to reuse everything so old draw sheets were made into caps. Margaret also recalls that old IV tubing was used by the priests and monsignor to tie up their tomato plants. When she was in school, needles were also being reused. Burrs were taken off, they were sterilized, etc. At that time syringes IV bottles, etc were made of glass so they were sterilized and reused.
