Description Color offset lithograph on white paper. Cover for the magazine Best Detective, published by Street and Smith. The cover is blue with an image featuring the faces of two men framed by an hourglass. The hourglass is in front of the men; the man on the left is wearing a grey fedora, red striped shirt and tie facing a man on the right wearing a blue uniform cap and shirt. The artist's signature is signed in yellow on the bottom right of the image. Above the image is white text: "Best // Detective // 15 ¢ Magazine // Jan. 1932." Below the image is white text: "Johnston McCulley - Edward Leonard // Charlotte Dockstader." A shield is printed on the upper right with the publisher's name printed on it. On the left edge is the spine of the magazine with the date and name of the magazine printed in red. On the reverse side is a black text ad informing on the Street and Smith's College Stories in Awards $1000 contest. The text is framed by a diamond border.
