Description Color offset lithograph on white paper. The print, titled "The American National Game of Base Ball" by Nathaniel Currier and James Ives, features a base ball game from a bird's-eye view from behind home plate. Men in white shirts and blue pants are playing baseball; a pitcher is winding up his throw to the waiting batter. To the right is a group of people sitting and standing, watching the game. Beyond the outfielders is a line of carriages and people watching the game. In the background is a line of trees. The field is grass covered, save for the base lines. There are bags for bases, and there is a runner on first and third.The sky is a light blue with a few clouds. Engraved beneath the image is the title, artists, copyright, and manufacturing credits. The image is framed by a tan border, and then the paper's edge. Graphite notes are written on the bottom middle-right edge of the print by John Falter. The reprint company's name--New York Graphic Society--and information is printed on the lower left.
