Title Painting; John Falter; Oil; By His Deeds Measure Yours
Object Name Painting
Description Oil on canvas. Painting with Earth tones with a sickly hue. Image of a man lying dead in a trench. The soldier is surrounded by barbed wire and shells and a submachine gun (looks like a MI Thompson minus clip) is lying across his lap. Around his head he is wearing a "crown" of barbed wire, his right hand is grasping barbed wire, and his left arm/hand is outstretched and lies near several shells. The soldier's shirt is in tatters and only his left shoulder/side is partially covered. He is wearing pants with a belt. On the right upper corner is a wooden cross surrounded by barbed wire. On his left wrist he is wearing a metal ID bracelet with the inscription "USA 21613171". The sky in the background is light blue/yellow. The painting is unframed and unstretched. The artist's signature is on the soldier's left leg. "BY HIS DEEDS // MEASURE YOURS" is lightly etched/pressed into the painting on the top middle of the painting.
