Title Moccasins, Buffalo Tracks; Men's
Object Name Moccasin
Description Adult moccasins made of leather with hard sole and decorated with glass beads. The leather is cut in a straight inside line to toe with a straight cut cuff with a cotton binding of mustard yellow. The binding is attached with light tan thread. Leather thong laces wrap around the ankle through slits in the skin and beads. A beaded elongated triangular tongue is attached with sinew. Two tin cones are attached to the bottom of the tongue with cotton cord. A tin cone is missing from 11901-79-(2). The moccasins are decorated with glass beads in colors of medium blue, red white hearts, and white. Two V-shaped areas of solid medium blue beads with a longitudinal dividing stripe named for their resemblance to buffalo tracks are on the instep. Six triangle design units separated by a column of three blue and red squares on a white background are placed around the base of the foot. Four triangles are found on the longitudinal dividing stripe. Bead rows of white rectangles on a medium blue background and red rectangles on a white background are placed around the ankle just under the cuff.
