Title Drawing; John Falter; Graphite
Object Name Drawing
Description Color lithograph, "A Frontier Settlement," printed by Currier and Ives with a sheet of tracing paper attached to the right edge. The print depicts a lake with tree lined shore. The lake is in a valley and tree and vegetation covered hills rise up around it. In the background is a settlement with four buildings visible along a dirt road leading from the water up a hill. A row boat is visible on the lake on the lower left with three passengers on board. On the right edge are two boats floating next to each other. One is a sail boat and the other is a row boat. Printed along the bottom of the paper is the title. The print is framed with two black lines. Taped to the right edge is a sheet of tracing paper with a graphite drawing of a woman in a bathing suit and dark sunglasses water skiing behind a motorboat. The paper overlays the print so as to appear that the woman is water skiing on the lake. On the lower right of the tracing paper is a note made by the artist, John Falter.
