Title Quilt Block; Trip Around the World
Object Name Block, Quilt
Description Quilt block pieced with 113 one and one-half inch squares in alternating prints and solids: peach, yellow, gold solids, with blues, greens, and whites added in the prints. Prints are in flower designs with exception of one row of large dots. Squares are set on point in a variation of Trip around the World pattern in block form. Center square is made up of two pieces sewn together.

History Marjorie Leu Skala was born in 1904 in a log cabin on the Red Willow Creek. She was a 1924 graduate of the Curtis Agricultural School and later got her degree at Chadron State Teachers College. She was a long-time fourth grade teacher at Emerson Elementary School in Alliance. She taught in Lincoln, hayes, Scotts Bluff, and Box Butte Counties. She married William V. Skala in 1938.
