Description This is a bookmark that has a long, flat, slender end that is to be placed in the book. At the top of that end is a curve that loops back around almost parallel to the end that goes into the book. At the top of the curved end is a symbol. This symbol has a circle with a triangle in it. The triangle has a person kneeling down in the middle of it. Around the edges it reads, "CRETE, NEBRASKA. JULY, A.D. 1872. DOANE COLLEGE." This bookmark is from the presidential inauguration of Jonathan M. Brand, J.D. from May 3, 2006. The circle outside the triangle is red and the triangle itself has a black background.

History Souvenir from the inauguration of Doane College president Jonathan M. Brand, J.D. Brand was inaugurated on May 3, 2006. Brand has a B.A. in history and French from the University of Wisonsin, Madison; a M.A. in French literature from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and a Juris Doctor from Cornell Law School. He was assistant director of legal writing and acedemic support coordinator at Cornell Law School; a law associate with Coddington, Hicks & Danforth and Robinson & Wood; and was a lecturer of French at the University of California-Riverside Department of Comparative Literature and Foreign Languages. He was Vice President of Institutional and Budget Planning at Grinnell College and a lecturer in political science until becoming Doane's President.
