Description Front cover of a book jacket for "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer," by Mark Twain, illustrated by John Falter and published by the MacMillan Company. Color offset lithograph on white paper. Image featured on the front cover of a boy in a blue shirt, jeans, suspenders, and a straw hat holding a white paint covered brush. The boy is standing in front of a half painted wooden fence. The white fence covers the background; the fence is brown on the left edge of the image. A knot in the wood has leaves poking through it. The artist's signature is written on the lower left corner of the image in black. A square has been cut from the top of the cover, leaving a strip of paper on the right. Above the illustration is the black text: "with an afterward by Clifton Fadiman." A blue rectangle on the upper right corner has a white circle with a black stamp with the text: "The MacMillan Classics" printed on it. The rest of the jacket has been cut away.
