Description Oil on canvas. Painting of a man seated at an easel drawing with charcoal a portrait painting of a man sitting on the easel to the left of the sketching hand and paper. View of the man from the top--his chest, legs, and arms, minus the head--sketching with his right hand. The man is wearing a purple vest and pants, a green shirt, red tie, and brown shoes. The shirt sleeve on the left arm is pushed up. At the bottom of the easel is a tray with paint, brushes, an ashtray, and cigarette. To the left is a cabinet. In the background on the left are black floorboards, a desk, shelves, and on the right is a door. "1932" is written in ink on the top right edge of the canvas. The painting is signed and dated in brown paint on the top right corner.
