A man in a purple robe sits behind her. Lying on top of the stone bench is another man. Trees and bushes are painted around the white stone bench. Images are carved into the sides of the bench. Printed beneath the image is the title of the painting and the artist's name: "A Florentine Poet // From a Painting by A. Cabanel." Written on the top edge is a note in blue ink written by John Falter.
