Description Gravure print on white paper. Print of "William Ritson" originally painted by J. Scott, 1867. Image of sailing ship with three masts sailing on a green ocean with white caps against a blue sky with purple clouds. The hull is black and white, and the sails are white with black vertical lines painted across in strips. A British flag flies on the first mast, a blue flag on the second, and a red flag off the stern. Figures are visible standing on the deck. In the background the shore is visible--mountains, a lighthouse, and a ship in front and behind the sailing ship. The ship is sailing to the left. The image is bordered by white. A plate mark frames the image. Printed in the lower left corner in black: "Printed in U.S.A." A sheet of paper is attached to the print on the upper left corner. The sheet has the name of the print and a short biography of the ship, artist credit line, and credit to the painting's owners.
