The Native Americans are looking at the river and at a steamboat emerging from the right side of the painting. The steamboat has a white bow and two wagons with teams of horses are visible on the deck. In the foreground is a felled tree. In the background acrosss the river is the opposite shore lined with brown trees. The painting is signed by Falter on the bottom middle edge.
