Title Painting; John Falter; Oil; Legend of Daring; Framed
Object Name Painting
Description Oil on canvas. Painting of a Western scene featuring nine fur traders/mountain men on horseback riding bareback at the head of running horses and coyotes. The stampeding animals are running across prairie grasses through a Native American camp. On the left are teepees; one teepee in the foreground has been trampled into--it's sides are open and a fire has been disturbed. A Native American is visible peeking out beneath the teepee. In the background on the right is a foggy outline of the curve of a hill. On the left the sky is lightening for the dawn. The horizon is turning blue. Signed on the lower left by the artist, and framed by a 4" gold frame with a linen mat. The frame has a gold plaque on the bottom center with the title of the painting and the artist's name.
