Description Color offset lithograph on white groundwood pulp paper. Magazine titled "Western Story" published by Street & Smith. The magazine, "Vol. CVII," has 152 pages of western stories with illustrations, and advertising pages. Advertising sections are placed at the beginning and end of the magazine with western stories inbetween. The magazine's cover is green with an image featuring a man in a white shirt, black vest, red neckerchief, and a tall cowboy hat holding a pistol in either hand. The man is leaning on a orange rock. A green branch is sticking up in front of the rock. The artist's signature is signed in black beneath the right arm on the right edge. Above the image is red and white text: "Street & Smith's // Western Story // Magazine // Every Week." Printed on the lower right is black text: "Max Brand // Mark Farley // Robert J. Horton // George Owen Baxter." A red square is printed on the upper left corner with red text: "Oct. 17 // 1931 // 15 ¢ // In U.S.A." On the left edge is the spine of the magazine with the date and name of the magazine printed in green.
