History The donor, Elizabeth Fix, was from North Platte, Nebraska. She learned how to quilt from her mother when she was about 10 years old. She has appeared on the television and radio talking about and demonstrating how to quilt. She tended to save the quilts that she made to pass on within her family, but she has quilted for money for others. She has made over 450 quilts, many finished and over 100 pieced together tops. She stored all of them in a special wooden chest that she bought at an auction for $15.00. She decorated both the inside and the outside herself. A majority of the quilt blocks that she donated were not made by her, but were ones that she collected.
