Description Small paint brush made of a thick, hollow, porcupine quill with a tuft of animal fur (possibly mink) attached to the tip of the quill with thread. The handle has faint reddish discoloration.

History From donor file: From tool chest handmade to hold tools; initials on inside of lid "A.T.H." Belonged to August Theodore Haase, who came from Germany as a young man and worked for a short time as a cabinet maker in New York and Wheeling, West Virginia. He arrived in Dakota City, Nebraska Territory in 1859. He became a contractor and built many buildings, including the first court house at Dakota City in 1872. Dying at Dakota City, he was buried there until his remains were later moved to Emerson.
