History Col. William Bischof Jr. Bischof was born in Nebraska City and atteneded Annapolis Naval Academy in the late 1880s. He returned to Nebraska and served in the Nebraska National Guard, including three years as Colonel of the Second Infantry. He is said to have been with troops near Chadron during the battle of the Little Bighorn. He later worked as a salesman for the Western Stove Company and was president of the King Drill Manufacturing Company.
