History This Forenza sweater was worn by Deb McWilliams during the 1980s. Forenza sweaters were sold by the clothing store The Limited. The Forenza sweater, which appeared around 1984, was a must-have item. During the 1980s, American clothing was influenced by modern European looks. The Limited's founder, Leslie Wexner, came up with the name Forenza for a new line of clothing. Because it sounded Italian, stores were decorated with Italian flags and slogans. The Forenza sweater is said to have been the most successful sweater in American retailing history, selling more than 3 million units at $29 a piece.
