Title Drawing; John Falter; Graphite
Object Name Drawing
Description Graphite drawing on white tracing paper. Drawing of a bear in overalls and a hat. The paper is taped to the upper left corner of a print. The print, a color lithograph titled "Camping in the Woods," by Arthur F. Tait, Currier, and Ives. The print features a lean-to made on the edge of a forest. Three men in hunting clothing--coats, shirts, pants, and tall boots--are sitting and standing beneath the lean-to eating breakfast. A fire in front of the lean-to has wood burning and heating up a pot, a pan, and a coffee pot. Hanging off the lean-to are clothes and supplies. Two dogs are lying down and sitting next to a man sitting and smoking a cigarette. Supplies are stacked on the left side of the image. A man stands on path from the lean-to a lake. A canoe is visible next to the shore. Beneath the print is black text with the artist's names, copyright, title and subtitle. A graphite note is written on the bottom of the page and on the bottom of the tracing paper. The tracing paper overlays on the left side so the bear looks like its standing on the path.
