Object Name Poster
Description Color offset lithograph on white paper. Yellow poster of the May 5, 1951 Saturday Evening Post Cover, "Shaking Hands After the Fight," by John Falter. At the top of the poster is a red rectangle with white text above the cover. The cover features two fathers nudging their boys to shake hands in the driveway of a house. Other children are standing around watching the two boys shake hands. Toys are littered on the ground, thrown or torn off in the fight. The ground shows evidence of the fight. The driveway is bordered by two white two-story houses; the house on the right has red shudders, and the house on the left has tulips lining the wall to the backdoor. A dog sits on the blue stoop next to the backdoor. In the second story window of both houses people are peaking out to survey the happenings in the driveway. A garage at the end of the driveway has its open doors. A red house is visible in the distance next to a grove of trees. On the lower left on the siding of the next door house is Falter's handwritten signature. At the top of the page is title of the magazine, date, and a listing of articles contained in the magazine. Printed on the bottom right edge is the manufacturing date.
