History This hat belonged to Harold Kirk. Harold graduated from high school in Broken Bow, Nebraska in 1924 and obtained an electrical engineering degree in Ames, Iowa in 1928. While in college, Kirk was in the ROTC. After graduation he worked for Commonwealth Edison. In 1941, he was called for temporary duty and served in the 76th Division Artillery. He was sent to Europe just after the Battle of the Bulge. He continued in the Reserves until his retirement in July, 1960, only a few weeks before his death, August 16. He attained the rank of Colonel in 1952.
