Description Graphite and charcoal on paper. Sketch drawn from the viewpoint of the back of a covered wagon in a wagon train looking toward the front. In the wagon you can see a small boy laying on his back napping, there are bedrolls and other nondescript items around him. You can also see a chest of drawers and the foot and headboards of a bed on the proper left. There are a few items hanging from the top of the wagon and you can see the patched canvas. The canvas is rolled up a bit on the proper right adn you can see a horse the the bottom part of its rider. There is a woman sitting in the front of the wagon with her back to the viewer. In front of her is a team of four oxen in yolks with a man in a hat walking next to them. You can see four wagons of the train in front of them. The rest of the landscape is prairie. Falter has written the following notes on the margins "detail, see page 272 Sheldon," "11 x 14," "wagon & accessories Mercer Museum," Have mother facing around to boy napping." "23rd"
