History Harold Kirk was a 1924 graduate of Broken Bow High School in Broken Bow, Nebraska. He attended college in Ames, Iowa and graduated with a degree in electrical engineering, 1928. While in college, he joined the ROTC. Kirk served in the 76th Division Artillery of the U.S. Army and was called for temporary duty in 1941. He served for five years, spending the last year overseas. He continued active duty in the Reserves until July 1960 and attained the rank of Lt. Colonel. Kirk was employed at Commonwealth Edison.
